The Season of Festivities

Its the season of seasons... Onam, Eid, Rakshabandhan, Navaratri, the fast approaching Diwali, and the smell of Christmas cakes... The best time to check out some books related to Philosophies too. I happened to read Reza Aslan's 'No God but God' which is a gripping account of the life of Prophet Mohammed and how Islam and its tenets came into being; with all the excitement of a novel, it is the quintessential Arabian Tale. I actually read 'Islam for Hindus' prior to that, to get familiar with the ideas of Islam from the perspective of a familiar Hindu. But both reads were very enlightening, and I personally found that the essential truths are come from the same source, and with great intention for all of humanity.
Christianity was another eye-opener for me. Having read the Bible at an earlier point in life, I needed 'The Hidden Gospel: Decoding The Spiritual Message Of The Aramaic Jesus' and 'The Jesus I never Knew' by Philip Yancey to get to greater depths to understanding Jesus's parables and life's messages.
In any case, it is a great experience to explore different waters and find out that they all originate from the same ocean.
